At MapsPeople, we are entering a pivotal chapter of AI-led transformation and growth. We are shaping the future of spatial intelligence and indoor navigation, and we are looking for a Senior Engineering Team Lead to help lead the next evolution of our web platform and frontend ecosystem.

If you enjoy building high-quality web products, writing production code alongside your team, and guiding engineers through technical and architectural decisions, this role offers a unique combination of hands-on development and people leadership.

The Role

As Senior Engineering Team Lead, you will guide one of our engineering teams while remaining deeply involved in hands-on development. The role combines approximately 50% technical contribution with team leadership and technical direction. You will work closely with Product Management, Design, and other Engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-quality web solutions used by customers worldwide. You will set technical standards, mentor engineers, and ensure that our web products continue to evolve in line with both user needs and business goals.

What You Will Do

  • Build and evolve features across our web-based MapsIndoors products, including the JavaScript SDK, web applications, and Content Management System
  • Own features end-to-end, from design and implementation through to delivery, managing complexity and engaging directly with stakeholders
  • Collaborate with world-class customers to implement tailored MapsIndoors solutions
  • Deliver well-tested, production-ready code that provides an excellent experience for both internal teams and external developers
  • Champion web product quality by driving improvements in testing practices and architectural decisions
  • Explore and integrate AI / LLM capabilities where they create meaningful value for user experience and developer workflows
  • Leadership & Team Guidance
  • Lead and mentor an engineering team, fostering a collaborative culture focused on continuous learning and improvement
  • Define and communicate the technical vision for our frontend ecosystem, ensuring alignment with product strategy and business objectives
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and Operations teams
  • Oversee project planning and execution, ensuring timely delivery within scope
  • Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, best practices, and hands-on technical guidance
  • Act as a technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders when needed

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Web Development, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional web development experience
  • 1–2 years of experience leading or mentoring technical teams
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Proven experience with SDK development, with a strong understanding of web technologies and how SDKs integrate across web and mobile platforms
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript; familiarity with Swift (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android) is considered an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with Web Components, CSS, and SCSS
  • Working knowledge of Angular and React
  • Solid understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Jest or similar testing frameworks
  • Proficiency with Git and agile methodologies (Scrum or similar)
  • Practical experience using AI tools and LLM APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) in development workflows

Nice to Have

  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • A team-first mindset with a passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • A proven track record of delivering complex technical projects
  • Ability to balance independent ownership with collaborative problem-solving
